#PKPP #COVID-19 POSTING PILIHAN: DATO' SRI ISMAIL SABRI YAAKOB EXPLAIN SOP DIFFERENCES FOR CMCO, EMCO AND TEMCO

Kuala Lumpur, 10th October 2020 - Senior Minister of Defence, Ministry of Defence, Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today clarified the differences in standard operating procedures (SOP) for the various types of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The Conditional MCO (CMCO), he said, focused on limiting social, religious and other events to mitigate the risk of the spread of the COVID-19 virus within the community.

"The SOP enforced at areas placed under the CMCO can be amended based on the localities and the COVID-19 situation.

"This is evident in the implementation of the CMCO in the sub-district in Klang, which is way different from the enforcement of the same order in some parts of Sabah.

"Having said that, industrial and economic activities permitted to operate by the National Security Council subjected to strict compliance with the SOP at areas placed under CMCO," he said in a live press conference from his home.

As for the Enhanced MCO (EMCO), Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri said it was akin to a "total lockdown", in which all activities would be ceased during the implementation of the order.

"No movement (entering and exiting areas placed under EMCO) would be allowed during the period. Residents of affected areas are not allowed to leave their houses and food items will be sent to them by the respective authorities.

"This was the case when we implemented the EMCO, for example, at the Selangor Mansion in Kuala Lumpur and Kampung Dato' Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam, Johor."

In comparison, he said the Targeted Enhanced MCO (TEMCO) would only be implemented on specific locality as seen in the case involving six areas in Semporna, where the order's duration was extended yesterday.

"TEMCO is implemented when the health authorities managed to identify confirmed cases from specific localities, which is not scattered," he said.
