Kuala Lumpur: Justice may be served for the woman who was assailed and mugged by two men in an elevator following the arrests of eight people in connection with the case.

The 24-year-old woman, known only as Lim, was cornered on Oct 17 inside an elevator by two men who kicked her and took her purse which contained about RM400, two smartphones and her car keys.

This was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) of the condominium in Setapak. Lim ended up with two broken teeth and bruises all over her body.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohd Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the first string of arrests was carried out on Wednesday in a hotel room along Jalan Kampung Batu.

"We arrested four men and a girl aged between 16 and 33, at the hotel. They were all unemployed. The girl did not go to school.

"One of the men was positively identified as a suspect who was inside the lift," he said.

Supt Roy said the 26-year-old suspect had four previous criminal records for drug abuse and theft.
